Class 4.3 Labels. Dangerous When Wet Labels & Hazard Warning Placards

Div 4.3 contains substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases (e.g calcium carbide). They need to be carried in watertight containers - some are carried under paraffin, grease or in tanks under an inert gas blanket. In enclosed vehicles they can be affected by condensation.

PG I is ascribed to any substance that gives off gas and immediately ignites or where the rate of evolution of gas exceeds a set amount (10 litres per kg of substance in any one minute). PG II or III is ascribed when the evolution rates exceeds limit values.
